The Bearded Dragon a nice ozzy
I have kept lizards for quite a long time
now but it wasn’t until I was
introduced to the Bearded dragon that I actually fell in love with one .
With their strange over bite and their unusual texture its hard for the
unsuspecting owner to realize that they get into your heart and make
it almost impossible to not love them. They don’t come cheap by
lizard standards but , at about £80 a time I can tell you that they are
worth every penny and I would strongly advise anyone who decides
to aquire one that they would be better to buy two. The interaction
between two Beardies is stunning to watch as they have their own
language of body movements which, if you take the time to watch
them , can be deciphered and copied by the owner.....(yes you can
really talk to them). They are natives of Australia and so need high
temperatures to keep them in top condition (a hot spot of a whacking
110 degrees is needed) and their diet is almost entirely insect. Just to
see them eat is worth £80 of anyones money as they fly around their
vivarium at lightening speed , plucking crickets out of mid-air. As for
friendly , they dont mind being handled in the wild and in captivity
they positively crave it . They peer through the glass as you pass their
viv, their eyes begging you to lift the lid and pick them out. When you
have them in your hand they sit their looking at you with their big soft
eyes and make no attempt to escape.
